twentynine palms 3003: pioneertown

Pioneertown’s bowling alley is hardly ever open if you stop by, but when it is it’s the best place on earth.

We bowled, lounged, drank $2 beers and listened to the lady who runs it tell us how when Pappy & Harriet’s has a big-name performer, the smart people wander to the bowling alley for a drink instead of fight their way to the bar.

Her kids were running around while her husband worked on his numerous antique arcade games in the corner. We were all very happy.

    I wish the place was open more, `cause P&H can get packed and I miss getting drunk there!

    It’s one of my favourite places, ever. It was only open one of the many times I went out there.
