Big Sur with a filthy sensor.
I’m behind on keeping track of my concert photography tearsheets. Oops.
Now that I’m back from shooting the Woodsist festival in Big Sur (where driving almost anywhere involved stopping every five seconds to shoot more crazy fog-soaked vistas), here are some new published live music images and some portraits, too.
The Bamboozle Roadshow stopped in Hollywood at the Palladium, and I needed my earplugs more for the screaming young ladies in the front row than the bands, which included Drive A, The Ready Set, Forever The Sickest Kids, Hellogoodbye, Good Charlotte, Third Eye Blind (I’ve had “Semi Charmed Kind of Life” stuck in my head ever since and am going bananas), All Time Low and Boys Like Girls. I shot it for LAist.
The travelling Woodsist festival‘s inspired Big Sur stop at the Henry Miller Memorial Library was the sort of very special event where in between the Fresh & Onlys and Moon Duo I went for a wander and saw a rabbit, a hummingbird and seven cows while watching the sun set over the Pacific. Also playing were Spectre Folk, Art Museum, The Mantles, Eat Skull, Kurt Vile, Woods and Real Estate. It’s hard to take pictures that do it justice, but I shot some for Brooklyn Vegan anyway.
The Strange Boys and Woah Hunx played a Hollywood Hills house party a while ago, and Brooklyn Vegan just posted a set of shots along with tour dates for both bands. Go and see ’em!
The totally amazing (really, you have to check this one out) Pipes performed at PYT in Hollywood at one in the morning. Then I ate a bacon-wrapped hot dog, with everything. Best night ever. I covered it for LAist.
